Earlier this year Norwood Park and Recreation District was awarded a $200,000 grant from Colorado Parks and Wildlife! Funding for this grant was provided by the Federal Highway’s Recreational Trails Program, and administered through the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Trails Program. Project work began in August with matching funds from San Miguel County.
With funding from this grant, NPRD plans to complete 9 miles of non-motorized trail construction using both a professional trail building company, Bedrock Land Works, and Southwest Conservation Corps (SCC). We will also complete construction of a trailhead on County Road W35. All work should be completed by late 2017.
